By the Book: Education Exhibit

  • Highlights three segments of education

1.      Early history of education

2.      African-American education experience in Anderson County’s Rosenwald schools. Rosenwald schools were African American schools prior to   integration.

3.      Integration

  • Rosenwald schools are among the most important endangered structures in U.S. history according to the National Trust for Historic Preservation. There were between 19 and 21 Rosenwald schools in Anderson and only three of them are still standing. This is a premier restoration projects for historians.
